SERUM MAGNESIUM LEVEL IN TYPE2 DIABETES MELLITUS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a worldwide, growing epidemic, with an estimated 415 million adults globally. Patients diabetes are at increased risk of death and triad serious diabetes-specific complications (neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy) other associated complications. Magnesium intracellular cation co-enzyme for various reactions glycolytic pathway. Hence, we evaluated serum magnesium level in type 2 DM without diabetic retinopathy. Materials methods: The study carried out on 40 patients retinopathy All subjected to the detailed history taking, ocular examination, investigations like magnesium, FBS, PPBS, glycated hemoglobin. Results: revealed that there significant decrease than (t= -6.297, df= 58 p= <0.001).Similarly Fasting Blood sugar, post prandial blood sugar duration also show difference. Conclusion: As decreases DM, prevalence increases. Timely monitoring levels hemoglobin as well appropriate interventions would be beneficial early detection treatment
